Indiana is a state located in the Midwestern United States. It is bordered by Michigan to the north, Ohio to the east, Kentucky to the south, and Illinois to the west. Indiana is divided into 92 counties, which are further divided into townships. Each county is governed by a board of commissioners, which is responsible for setting the county’s budget, levying taxes, and providing services such as law enforcement, public health, and public works.
Indiana’s counties vary in size and population. The most populous county is Marion County, which is home to the state capital of Indianapolis. Marion County is also the most densely populated county in the state, with a population of over 930,000 people. Other populous counties include Lake County, which is home to the city of Gary, and Allen County, which is home to the city of Fort Wayne.
The smallest county in Indiana is Ohio County, which has a population of just over 6,000 people. Ohio County is located in the southwestern corner of the state and is home to the city of Rising Sun. Other small counties include Switzerland County, which has a population of just over 10,000 people, and Union County, which has a population of just over 17,000 people.
Indiana’s counties are also diverse in terms of geography and climate. The northern part of the state is home to the Great Lakes region, which is characterized by rolling hills, forests, and lakes. The central part of the state is home to the Central Plains region, which is characterized by flat plains and farmland. The southern part of the state is home to the Ohio River Valley region, which is characterized by hills, valleys, and rivers.
Indiana’s counties are also diverse in terms of economic activity. The northern part of the state is home to the manufacturing and automotive industries, while the central part of the state is home to the agricultural and food processing industries. The southern part of the state is home to the energy and chemical industries.
