History

Maple Park was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as "Maple Grove" and was incorporated in 1881. The name was changed to Maple Park in 1883.
The village was home to a number of small businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The village also had a post office, a school, and a church.
In the late 1800s, the village was home to a number of German immigrants who worked in the local brickyards. The brickyards were eventually closed and the village's population declined.
In the early 1900s, the village was home to a number of Italian immigrants who worked in the local coal mines. The coal mines were eventually closed and the village's population declined.
