History
Maple Park was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as "Maple Grove" and was incorporated in 1881. The name was changed to Maple Park in 1883.
The village was home to a number of small businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The village also had a post office, a school, and a church.
In the late 1800s, the village was home to a number of German immigrants who worked in the local brickyards. The brickyards were eventually closed and the village's population declined.
In the early 1900s, the village was home to a number of Italian immigrants who worked in the local coal mines. The coal mines were eventually closed and the village's population declined.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,310 people, 486 households, and 355 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,279.2 people per square mile (493.2/km2). There were 517 housing units at an average density of 507.3 per square mile (196.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 486 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
