Diamond Summary

Diamond is a village located in the northeastern corner of Illinois, in the county of Jo Daviess. It is situated on the banks of the Galena River, and is part of the Galena-Sauk Trail State Park. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 25 miles from the city of Galena.

History

Diamond was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the diamond-shaped piece of land that the settlers purchased from the local Native Americans. The settlers built a sawmill and a gristmill, and the village quickly grew.
