Seven Points Summary

Points, Texas is a small town located in Henderson County, Texas. It is situated on the banks of the Trinity River, about 25 miles east of Tyler. The town was founded in 1873 and was originally known as Seven Points because of the seven points of the river that surrounded the town.

History

The town of Seven Points was founded in 1873 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Athens. The settlers were looking for a place to settle and start a new life. The town was named after the seven points of the Trinity River that surrounded the town. The town was originally a farming community, but soon became a trading center for the surrounding area.
In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and prosper. The population increased from around 200 in 1900 to over 1,000 by the 1920s. The town was home to several businesses, including a cotton gin, a sawmill, a gristmill, and a general store.
In the 1930s, the town was hit hard by the Great Depression. Many of the businesses closed and the population decreased. However, the town was able to survive and eventually began to grow again.
