Nome is located at 64°30′14″N 165°23′58″W (64.503889, -165.399444). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.6 square miles (56.0 km2), of which, 18.5 square miles (47.9 km2) of it is land and 3.1 square miles (8.1 km2) of it (14.37%) is water.
Nome is located on the southern coast of the Seward Peninsula, on the Bering Sea. The city is located on a small bay, which is protected by a sand spit. History
