Huntington, Texas is a small town located in Angelina County, Texas. It is situated on the banks of the Angelina River, about 25 miles east of Lufkin. Economy

Huntington’s economy is largely based on agriculture and timber. The town is home to several large timber companies, including Weyerhaeuser, International Paper, and Georgia-Pacific. The town also has a number of small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,130 people, 817 households, and 571 families residing in the town. The population density was 962.2 people per square mile (371.7/km2). There were 917 housing units at an average density of 414.3 per square mile (159.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 79.45% White, 17.90% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.17% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.02% of the population.
