Campbell, Texas is a small town located in Hunt County, Texas, United States. It is situated about 10 miles east of Greenville, the county seat. The population of Campbell was 1,093 at the 2010 census.
History
Campbell was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after a local family, the Campbells. The first post office was established in 1873. The town was incorporated in 1876.
In the early 1900s, Campbell was a thriving agricultural community. Cotton was the main crop, and the town had several cotton gins and a cottonseed oil mill. The town also had a bank, a hotel, a blacksmith shop, and several stores.
In the 1920s, the town began to decline as the cotton industry declined. The Great Depression further weakened the town's economy. In the 1940s, the town began to revive as the oil industry began to boom in the area. The town was home to several oil wells and a refinery.

The racial makeup of the town was 79.2% White, 16.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.7% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.2% of the population.
There were 431 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.13.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
