Greens Fork is a small town located in Wayne County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Richmond, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Greens Fork was founded in 1837 by William Green, a Quaker from North Carolina. He purchased the land from the government and established a trading post. The town was named after him. In 1845, the first post office was established and the town was officially incorporated in 1853.
The town grew slowly but steadily over the years. In 1876, the first school was built and in 1883, the first church was established. The town also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a few other businesses.
In the early 1900s, the town began to experience a period of growth. The railroad came to town in 1906 and the first bank was established in 1908. The town also had a newspaper, a hotel, and a few other businesses.
In the 1920s, the town experienced a period of decline. The railroad was abandoned and many businesses closed. The population decreased and the town became a quiet, rural community.
