History

Point was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was originally known as “Point Settlement”, and was named after the point of land where the settlers first arrived. The town was officially incorporated in 1845.
In the late 19th century, Point was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several grain mills, a sawmill, and a flour mill. The town also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.
