History
The area that is now Wrenshall was first settled in the late 1800s by Swedish immigrants. The town was named after the Wren family, who were among the first settlers. The town was officially incorporated in 1906.
In the early 1900s, Wrenshall was a thriving logging and farming community. The town was home to several sawmills, a creamery, a flour mill, and a brickyard. The town also had a railroad station, which connected it to Duluth and Superior.
In the 1950s, the town began to decline as the logging industry declined and the railroad station closed. The town was further impacted by the construction of Interstate 35, which bypassed the town.
