History

In the late 19th century, Minnesota Lake was a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to several grain elevators, a creamery, a flour mill, and a lumber mill. The city also had a railroad station, which connected it to the rest of the state.
In the early 20th century, Minnesota Lake began to decline. The railroad station closed in the 1920s, and the lumber mill closed in the 1930s. The city's population began to decline as well, and by the 1950s, the population had dropped to just over 500.
