Geography

Waseca County is located in the south-central region of Minnesota, and is bordered by Steele County to the north, Freeborn County to the east, Blue Earth County to the south, and Martin County to the west. The racial makeup of the county was 95.3% White, 0.7% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 2.3% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. 4.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

About 6.2% of families and 8.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
