Stearns County Summary
Stearns County is located in the central part of Minnesota, and is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by Benton County to the north, Sherburne County to the east, Wright County to the south, and Meeker County to the west. History
Stearns County was established in 1855, and was named after Charles Thomas Stearns, a Minnesota politician. The county was originally part of the Dakota Territory, and was part of the original Minnesota Territory when it was established in 1849.
