West Liberty Borough is a small borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the county, just north of the city of Pittsburgh. The borough is bordered by the boroughs of Carnegie and Crafton, and the townships of Collier and Robinson. The population of West Liberty Borough was 2,845 at the 2010 census.
History
West Liberty Borough was founded in 1872, when the area was still part of Allegheny County. The borough was named after the nearby West Liberty Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1790. The church was named after the Liberty Pole, a symbol of the American Revolution.
The first settlers in the area were mostly of German and Irish descent. The first industry in the area was a sawmill, which was built in 1820. The sawmill was followed by a gristmill, a tannery, and a distillery.
The borough was incorporated in 1872, and the first mayor was elected in 1873. The first school was built in 1875, and the first post office was established in 1876.

The racial makeup of the borough was 94.2% White, 2.3% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.9% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 1,093 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $37,500 versus $27,500 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $20,945.
