Newell borough Summary

Newell Borough is a small borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the county, just north of the Ohio border. The borough is bordered by the townships of Hanover, Raccoon, and Independence. The population of Newell Borough was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

History

Newell Borough was founded in 1876 by a group of settlers from Newell, West Virginia. The settlers were led by William Newell, who had purchased the land from the local Native American tribes. The town was named after William Newell, and the first post office was established in 1877.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community. The town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a grist mill. The town also had a school, a church, and a post office.
In the early 1900s, the town was also home to a number of coal mines. The coal mines provided employment for many of the town's residents, and the town's economy was largely dependent on the coal industry.

Newell Borough is located at 40°37'45" North, 80°25'45" West (40.629167, -80.429167). It is situated in the southwestern corner of Beaver County, just north of the Ohio border. The borough is bordered by the townships of Hanover, Raccoon, and Independence.
