Mainville Summary
History
Mainville, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in Butler County, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Butler. The town was originally known as “Main’s Station” after the first settler, John Main. The name was later changed to Mainville.
Mainville was an important stop on the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railway, which ran through the town from 1852 to 1871. The railway was a major factor in the growth of the town, as it allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from the area.
