The borough is bordered by the townships of North Beaver, Little Beaver, and Shenango. The population of Enon Valley Borough was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Enon Valley Borough was founded in 1845 and was originally known as Enon Valley Station. The name was changed to Enon Valley Borough in 1891. The borough was named after the Enon Valley, a tributary of the Beaver River. The area was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of Quakers from North Carolina. The first post office was established in 1845.

Geography

Enon Valley Borough is located at 40°51'N 80°25'W (40.851, -80.417). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.

Enon Valley Borough is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The primary industries in the area are agriculture and manufacturing. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 305 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,541.4 people per square mile (595.2/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 671.4 per square mile (259.3/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.7% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
