History

Berlin Borough was founded in 1764 by German immigrants who had settled in the area. The borough was originally known as East Berlin, and was part of the larger town of Berlin, which was divided into East and West Berlin in 1814. The two towns were reunited in 1854, and the name was changed to Berlin Borough.
