History
The area that is now Auburn Borough was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 1700s, and the first permanent settlement was established in 1817. The settlement was originally known as “Auburnville”, and was named after the Auburn family, who were among the first settlers.
In 1868, the area was incorporated as a borough. The borough was named after the Auburn family, and the name was changed to “Auburn Borough”. The borough was originally a farming community, but in the late 1800s, it began to develop into a residential area.
