Forest Hills Summary

History

The area now known as Forest Hills, North Carolina was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of settlers from Scotland. The settlers were led by a man named John McRae, who had been granted a large tract of land in the area by the British Crown. The settlers built a small village, which they named McRae's Settlement, and began to farm the land. The village grew slowly over the years, and by the mid-1800s it had become a thriving community.
In the late 1800s, the area was renamed Forest Hills, and the village was incorporated in 1891. The town was named after the nearby forest, which was home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, bear, and wild turkeys.
