History

Valley Hi was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Virginia. The town was originally known as “Valley High”, and was named after the high elevation of the area. The town was officially incorporated in 1845, and was home to a variety of businesses, including a sawmill, a gristmill, and a blacksmith shop.

In the late 1800s, the town began to experience a period of growth and prosperity. The railroad was extended to Valley Hi in 1887, and the town became a popular stop for travelers. The town also became a center for coal mining, and several coal mines were established in the area.

By the early 1900s, Valley Hi had become a bustling community. The town had a variety of stores, churches, and other businesses. The town also had a school, a post office, and a bank.
