Sciotodale Summary

Sciotodale is a small village located in Scioto County, Ohio, United States. It is situated along the Ohio River, just south of Portsmouth. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Portsmouth Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Sciotodale is located at 38°45'25" North, 82°59'45" West (38.756944, -82.995833). It is situated along the Ohio River, just south of Portsmouth. The village has a total area of 0.3 square miles, all of which is land.

History

Sciotodale was founded in 1820 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was named after the Scioto River, which runs through the area. The village was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the lumber industry. The village was incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Sciotodale was a thriving community with a population of over 1,000 people. The village had several stores, a hotel, a post office, a bank, and a school. The village also had a railroad station, which connected it to the larger cities of Portsmouth and Cincinnati.
In the early 20th century, the lumber industry began to decline and the population of Sciotodale began to decline as well. By the 1950s, the population had dropped to just over 500 people. The village has remained relatively stable since then, with a population of around 1,000 people.
