New Haven Cdp is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Hamilton County, Ohio. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the county, just north of the city of Cincinnati. The population of New Haven Cdp was 4,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

New Haven Cdp is located at 39°14'17" North, 84°30'45" West (39.238, -84.512). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.

History

New Haven Cdp was first settled in the early 1800s by German immigrants. The area was originally known as “New Haven” due to its proximity to the city of Cincinnati. The area was annexed by the city of Cincinnati in 1873, but was later re-established as an independent village in 1891. The village was incorporated as a city in 1901.
In the early 1900s, New Haven Cdp was a thriving industrial center, with several factories and businesses located in the area. The city was also home to a large number of German immigrants, who established churches, schools, and other organizations in the area.
In the 1950s, the city of Cincinnati began to expand, and the city of New Haven Cdp was annexed by the city of Cincinnati in 1954. The area is now considered part of the city of Cincinnati, but is still referred to as “New Haven” by many of its residents.

New Haven Cdp is primarily a residential area, with most of its residents employed in the city of Cincinnati. The area is home to several small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 4,845 people, 1,945 households, and 1,323 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,717.3 people per square mile (1,433.2/km2). There were 2,093 housing units at an average density of 1,611.2 per square mile (621.7/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 79.2% White, 15.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 1.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.3% from other races, and 3.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.7% of the population.
There were 1,945 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.08.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $41,964, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $37,500 versus $30,000 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,945. About 6.2% of families and 8.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
