Clarksville Summary

Clarksville, Ohio is a small village located in the southwestern corner of Montgomery County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Little Miami River, approximately 10 miles east of downtown Cincinnati. The village is home to approximately 2,000 people and is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Clarksville was founded in 1802 by William Clark, a Revolutionary War veteran and surveyor. Clark named the village after himself and it was incorporated in 1817. The village was originally a farming community, but it soon became a popular stop for travelers on the Little Miami Railroad. The railroad brought many new businesses to the area, including a sawmill, a gristmill, and a woolen mill.
In the late 19th century, Clarksville began to experience a period of growth and prosperity. The village was home to several factories, including a brickyard, a canning factory, and a furniture factory. The village also had a number of stores, including a general store, a drug store, and a hardware store.

Geography

Clarksville is located in the southwestern corner of Montgomery County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Little Miami River, approximately 10 miles east of downtown Cincinnati. The village is bordered by the cities of Dayton and Miamisburg to the north, and the townships of Miami and Washington to the south. The village is located in the Miami Valley region of Ohio, which is known for its rolling hills and lush forests.
The village has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The village is located at an elevation of 845 feet above sea level. The climate in Clarksville is classified as humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters.
