Marion County is located in the north-central part of Ohio and is bordered by Delaware, Morrow, Union, Hardin, Wyandot, Crawford, and Seneca counties. The county has a total area of 437 square miles, of which 434 square miles is land and 3 square miles is water. The county is mostly flat with some rolling hills and is drained by the Scioto River and its tributaries. The highest point in the county is located in the northwest corner and is 1,093 feet above sea level.
The county is home to several state parks and wildlife areas, including the Marion State Wildlife Area, the Marion State Park, and the Scioto Trail State Park. The county is also home to several lakes, including Indian Lake, Pleasant Lake, and Grand Lake St. Marys.
