Geography

Logan County is located in the central part of Ohio, and is part of the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area. It is bordered by Union, Hardin, Champaign, Shelby, Auglaize, and Union counties. The county has a total area of 437 square miles, of which 434 square miles is land and 3 square miles is water. The county is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the northern part. The highest point in the county is 1,068 feet above sea level, located in the northern part of the county.
The county is drained by the Scioto River, which flows through the county from north to south. The county is also home to several small lakes, including Indian Lake, Lake Loramie, and Grand Lake St. Marys.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 45,858 people, 17,845 households, and 12,717 families living in the county. The population density was 105.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 95.3% White, 1.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
The median income for a household in the county was $45,945, and the median income for a family was $54,945. The per capita income for the county was $21,945. About 8.3% of families and 10.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.2% of those under age 18 and 7.2% of those age 65 or over.
