Schley County is located in the southwestern part of the state, in the Flint River Valley. It is bordered by Macon County to the north, Sumter County to the east, Marion County to the south, and Webster County to the west. The county has a total area of 246 square miles, of which 245 square miles is land and 1.2 square miles (0.5%) is water.
The terrain of Schley County is generally flat, with some rolling hills in the northern part of the county. The Flint River forms the western border of the county, and the Kinchafoonee Creek forms the eastern border. The county is located in the Lower Flint River sub-basin of the ACF River Basin.
