Salineville Summary
Salineville is a village located in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. It is situated along the Ohio River, approximately 25 miles northwest of East Liverpool. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Salineville was first settled in 1802 by a group of Quakers from North Carolina. The village was originally known as Salina, and was later renamed Salineville. The name was derived from the salt springs that were located in the area. The village was incorporated in 1837.
In the late 19th century, Salineville was a major center for the production of salt. The salt was produced by boiling brine from the local salt springs. The salt was then shipped to other parts of the country via the Ohio River.

Salineville is located at 40°45'25" North, 80°45'25" West (40.756944, -80.756944). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 287 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,543.6 people per square mile (595.3/km2). There were 486 housing units at an average density of 690.0 per square mile (266.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $30,000, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $14,845.
