Geography

Giles County covers an area of 545 square miles, of which 544 square miles is land and 1 square mile is water. The racial makeup of the county was 90.2% White, 6.7% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.7% of the population.

Giles County is largely rural, and the economy is largely based on agriculture. The county is home to several large farms, and the main crops grown in the county are corn, soybeans, and wheat. History

Giles County was formed in 1810 from parts of Maury, Lawrence, and Lincoln counties. The county was named for William Branch Giles, a United States Senator from Virginia. The county seat was established in Pulaski in 1812.
