Pagedale Summary

Pagedale is a small city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The city is situated in the northwestern part of the county, just south of the city of St. Louis. As of the 2010 census, the population of Pagedale was 3,310.

History

Pagedale was founded in 1891 by William Page, a former slave who had purchased the land from the estate of a former slave owner. Page named the town after himself, and it was incorporated in 1925.
In the early 20th century, Pagedale was a predominantly white, middle-class suburb of St. Louis. However, in the 1950s and 1960s, the city experienced a period of white flight, as many white residents moved to the suburbs. This resulted in a population shift, and by the 1970s, Pagedale had become a predominantly African-American city.

Geography

Pagedale is located at 38°41'25" North, 90°19'17" West (38.690278, -90.321389). The city has a total area of 0.9 square miles, all of which is land.
