Viera West Summary
Viera West is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Palm Bay–Melbourne–Titusville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 8,829 at the 2010 census.
History
Viera West was originally part of the unincorporated community of Viera, which was established in the 1950s. In the late 1990s, the area was developed as a master-planned community. The name Viera West was adopted in 2000.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.3 square miles (21.5 km2), of which 8.2 square miles (21.3 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km2) (1.17%) is water.
Economy
Viera West is home to several businesses, including the Viera Regional Community Center, which offers a variety of recreational activities and services. The community also has a number of retail stores, restaurants, and other businesses.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,829 people, 3,845 households, and 2,717 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,072.3 people per square mile (414.3/km2). There were 4,093 housing units at an average density of 498.3/sq mi (192.2/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.45% White, 4.17% African American, 0.20% Native American, 1.45% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.45% of the population.
There were 3,845 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.72.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 21.2% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 28.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $60,945, and the median income for a family was $68,945. Males had a median income of $50,000 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $30,945. About 2.2% of families and 3.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.2% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over.
