Justice Summary

Justice is a town located in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a suburb of Washington, D.C., and is located approximately 15 miles northwest of the city. As of the 2010 census, the population of Justice was 8,945.

Geography

Justice is located at 39°7'25"N 77°14'17"W (39.123611, -77.238056). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all of it land.

Economy

Justice is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The town is also home to a number of government offices, including the Montgomery County Police Department, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, and the Montgomery County Public Schools.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 8,945 people, 3,541 households, and 2,541 families residing in the town. The population density was 4,072.3 people per square mile (1,571.2/km2). There were 3,741 housing units at an average density of 1,683.2 per square mile (649.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 68.2% White, 18.2% African American, 0.3% Native American, 8.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.7% from other races, and 3.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.2% of the population.
There were 3,541 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.02.
