Maysville Summary

Maysville is a small town located in Appanoose County, Iowa, United States. The population was estimated to be 545 in the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the South Skunk River, and is part of the Centerville Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Maysville was founded in 1854 by William May, a settler from Ohio. The town was originally known as May's Landing, but was later changed to Maysville. The town was incorporated in 1876.
Maysville was a major stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, which ran through the town from 1881 to 1971. The railroad was a major source of employment for the town, and it also served as a major transportation hub for the surrounding area.

Maysville is located at 40°45'25" North, 92°51'45" West (40.756944, -92.862500). The town is situated on the banks of the South Skunk River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.
