History
Maysville was founded in 1854 by William May, a settler from Ohio. The town was originally known as May's Landing, but was later changed to Maysville. The town was incorporated in 1876.
Maysville was a major stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, which ran through the town from 1881 to 1971. The railroad was a major source of employment for the town, and it also served as a major transportation hub for the surrounding area.
