Hettinger Summary

Hettinger is a city located in Adams County, North Dakota, United States. It is the county seat of Adams County and is located in the southwestern part of the state. The population was 1,431 at the 2010 census.

History

Hettinger was founded in 1906 and named after the Hettinger brothers, who were early settlers in the area. The city was incorporated in 1908. The city was originally a farming and ranching community, but in the early 20th century, it became a center for the oil industry. The city was also home to a large military base during World War II.

Hettinger's economy is largely based on agriculture and oil production. The city is home to several large agricultural businesses, including a grain elevator, a feed mill, and a fertilizer plant. The city is also home to several oil and gas companies, including a refinery and a natural gas processing plant.
