Richland County Summary
Richland County, North Dakota is located in the southeastern corner of the state and is bordered by the counties of Sargent, Ransom, and Cass. History
Richland County was established in 1873 and was named after the Richland Creek, which flows through the county. The county was originally part of the Dakota Territory and was part of the original Dakota Territory that was split into North and South Dakota in 1889. The county was originally populated by Native Americans, primarily the Dakota Sioux, who were forcibly removed from the area in the late 19th century.
