Glenham is a small town located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota, in the United States. It is situated in the Missouri River Valley, and is part of the larger Sioux Falls metropolitan area. The town has a population of just over 500 people, and is located in Hamlin County.
History
Glenham was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Watertown. The town was named after the nearby Glenham Creek, which was named after a Scottish immigrant who had settled in the area. The town was originally a farming community, and the first settlers were mostly of German and Scandinavian descent.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a post office.
In the 1920s, the town began to experience a decline in population, as many of the younger residents moved away to larger cities. This trend continued until the 1950s, when the town began to experience a resurgence in population. This was due in part to the construction of a new highway, which connected Glenham to the larger cities of Sioux Falls and Watertown.
