Geography
Pleasanton is located at 41°14'45"N 96°37'45"W (41.245833, -96.629167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km2), all of it land.
History
Pleasanton was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Iowa. The village was named after Pleasanton, Iowa, the hometown of the settlers. The first post office was established in 1872.
In the early 1900s, Pleasanton was a thriving agricultural community. The village had a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, a bank, a lumberyard, and a grain elevator. The village also had a school, a church, and a cemetery.
In the 1950s, the population of Pleasanton began to decline as people moved away to larger cities. By the 1970s, the village had become a virtual ghost town.
In the 1980s, the village was revitalized by a group of local residents who wanted to preserve the village's history and culture. The village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.5% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $30,625 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,945.
