Ingram Summary
Ingram is a small village located in the state of Wisconsin, in the United States. It is situated in the county of Marathon, and is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located on the banks of the Eau Claire River.
History
The area that is now known as Ingram was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “New Berlin”, and was later renamed to Ingram in honor of the first postmaster, William Ingram. The village was officially incorporated in 1891.
In the early 1900s, the village was a thriving lumber town, with several sawmills and lumber yards in operation. The lumber industry was the main source of employment for the residents of Ingram. The village also had a thriving agricultural industry, with many farmers growing crops such as potatoes, corn, and hay.
