Gordon Summary

The area that is now Gordon was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of Norwegian immigrants. The town was originally known as “Norway Valley”, and was later renamed “Gordon” after the first postmaster, William Gordon. The town was officially incorporated in 1906.

The St. Croix River was an important transportation route for the lumber industry, and the town was served by the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway.
