Dane Summary

Dane, Wisconsin is a small town located in Dane County, Wisconsin. It is situated on the banks of the Yahara River, about 20 miles west of Madison. The town was founded in 1845 and has a population of about 1,500 people.

History

Dane was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after the county, which was named after Nathan Dane, a Massachusetts lawyer and politician who was instrumental in the formation of the Northwest Ordinance. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the lumber industry.
