Hyde Park Summary

Hyde Park is a town located in Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Burlington–South Burlington Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Hyde Park was first settled in 1783 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The town was named after the Hyde family, who were among the first settlers. The town was officially incorporated in 1796.
In the 19th century, Hyde Park was an agricultural community, with dairy farming being the main industry. The town also had several sawmills, gristmills, and a tannery.

Geography

Hyde Park is located in the Lamoille Valley, in the northern part of Vermont. The town is bordered by Morrisville to the north, Johnson to the east, Cambridge to the south, and Belvidere to the west.
The Lamoille River runs through the town, and there are several small ponds and lakes in the area. The highest point in the town is the summit of Hyde Mountain, which has an elevation of 1,890 feet (576 m).
