Coto Norte Summary

Coto Norte is a municipality located in the northern region of Puerto Rico. It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Coto Norte was 8,845.

History

Coto Norte was founded in 1815 by Don Juan de Coto. It was originally part of the municipality of San Juan, but in 1825 it was separated and became its own municipality. The name Coto Norte comes from the fact that it is located in the northern part of Puerto Rico.

Geography

Coto Norte is located in the northern region of Puerto Rico, in the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by the municipalities of San Juan, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, and Dorado. The municipality covers an area of 8.7 square miles and has a population density of 1,018.7 people per square mile.
The terrain of Coto Norte is mostly flat, with some hills in the northern part of the municipality. The climate is tropical, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the mid-80s.

Economy

The economy of Coto Norte is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The main crops grown in the municipality are coffee, sugarcane, and bananas. The municipality also has a number of small businesses, including restaurants, bars, and shops.
Tourism is an important part of the economy of Coto Norte. The municipality is home to several beaches, including Playa de Coto Norte, Playa de San Juan, and Playa de Dorado. There are also several hotels and resorts in the area, as well as a number of restaurants and bars.
