Geography
Belington is located at 39°2′17″N 79°51′45″W (39.038139, -79.862445). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
History
Belington was founded in 1852 by the Belington Land Company. The town was named after the Belington family, who were prominent landowners in the area. The town was incorporated in 1872.
The town was an important stop on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, which ran through the town until the 1950s. The railroad was a major factor in the town's growth and development.
Economy
Belington's economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a pharmacy, and a variety of restaurants.
