It is bordered by Chicot County to the north, Ashley County to the east, Desha County to the south, and Lincoln County to the west. The county seat is Monticello, and the largest city is Wilmar. Geography
Drew County covers an area of 645 square miles, of which 643 square miles is land and 2 square miles is water. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the northern part of the county. The landscape is dominated by agricultural fields, with some wooded areas in the northern part of the county. The Bayou Bartholomew, a tributary of the White River, runs through the county from east to west.
The climate of Drew County is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 64°F, and the average annual precipitation is 48 inches.
History
Drew County was formed in 1846 from parts of Ashley, Bradley, and Chicot counties. It was named for Thomas Drew, the Governor of Arkansas from 1844 to 1849.
