Somerville is a small village located in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The village is situated on the banks of the Great Miami River, approximately 25 miles north of Cincinnati. As of the 2010 census, the population of Somerville was 1,719.

History

Somerville was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from New Jersey. The village was named after the town of Somerville, New Jersey. The first settlers were primarily of German and English descent. The village was incorporated in 1845.
In the late 19th century, Somerville was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.

Somerville is located at 39°25'25" North, 84°30'45" West (39.423, -84.512). The village has a total area of 0.9 square miles, all of which is land.
