Alexandria Summary

Alexandria, Ohio is a small village located in Licking County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Licking River, approximately 25 miles east of Columbus. The village has a population of approximately 1,500 people and covers an area of 1.2 square miles.

History

The area that is now Alexandria was first settled in 1805 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as “Licking” and was later renamed “Alexandria” in 1817 in honor of Alexander Hamilton. The village was officially incorporated in 1834.
