Leicester Summary

Leicester is a town located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It is located in the northwest corner of Livingston County, and is bordered by the towns of Geneseo, York, and Groveland. The town has a total area of 36.2 square miles, and a population of 4,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Leicester was first settled in 1790 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The town was originally part of the town of Geneseo, and was known as "Leicester Corners". In 1812, the town was officially incorporated as the town of Leicester.
