Avoca Summary

Avoca, New York is a small town located in Steuben County, in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It is situated on the banks of the Cohocton River, and is part of the Corning-Painted Post Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 1,500 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a winery, a brewery, and a number of small shops.

History

Avoca was first settled in 1790 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The town was originally known as “New Connecticut”, and was later renamed Avoca, after a town in Ireland. The town was officially incorporated in 1822.
