Alden Summary

Alden is a town located in Erie County, New York, United States. It is situated in the western part of the county, just south of the city of Buffalo. The population was 9,818 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Alden was first settled in 1809 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The town was originally known as "New Connecticut," but was later changed to Alden in 1823, after the town of Alden, Massachusetts. The town was officially incorporated in 1824.
The town of Alden was an agricultural community for much of its history. The town was known for its production of apples, peaches, and other fruits. In the late 19th century, the town began to develop into a manufacturing center, with several factories being built in the area.
