Butterfield Summary

Butterfield is a small town located in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. It is situated in the southwestern part of the state, about 25 miles from Springfield. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is part of the Ozark County.

History

Butterfield was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Ozark. The town was named after the Butterfield Stagecoach Line, which ran through the area. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and wheat.
